Many of us have the answer right in our own front yards. Some have it attached to their house, or perhaps a neighbor has it attached to theirs but we never really took the time to really see it. Some call it a “dish” others go by other names or services for the purpose of catching a satallite signal for broadcasting programs on a receiver. Another type of receiver and one I like even better is the concept of the radio telescope pointed deep into outer space with transmitters and stations set up to pick up the slightest sound deep in outer space. Unlike the stationary dish on the side of ones house these radio telescopes move with the purpose of catching a signal. Once they do they lock in on the source and quickly transfer the signals to the home base.
The heart is a type of radio telescope pointed outward. Like this telescope we lock into the signals being sent around us and transfer the data to anyone who will listen. Many times in the form of phone calls, texts, emails and plain conversation. But these constant transmissions locate us as much as we the signals. What we share in these various forms of communication tells everyone where our receivers is pointed at and locked into, what we follow or are following, the signals we are chasing in life.
There is a saying; “There are many voices in the world and none without significance.” The voices and sounds of friends, family, entertainment, world and current events can be noteworthy but is this the signal we want to be zeroed in on and follow. The scriptures states in Matthew 10: 37-39, “He who loves Father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of Me. And he who does not take up his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for my sake will find it.”
These words may not seem fair. After all there’s a lot going on in life and I’m just sharing who I am, my life and the lives of those around me; family, you know. After all, I have a life. I’m not some kind of Jesus freak like some people. I read my bible. I go to church, on occasion. I’m a Christian. Your no better than me. Besides, you have no business trying to tell me what to do or how to run my life. My response; yea, but I’ve been watching your signals and flipping the stations and see absolutely nothing about Jesus. And I’m about to turn you off. Just saying.
Question; Where is your radio telescope turned towards and locked into? The answer lies in your communication, signal caller. Is it towards he who sits on the throne in the heavens on down here somewhere on earth? Lock in on Jesus. Set your mind on things above.
